Webfront & Next.js
Webfront is the developer-owned public website layer. Build the institution’s presentation, routes and interactions with Next.js while GovCMS provides managed content behind it.
Webfront gives developers a Next.js foundation for bespoke government websites, connected to structured GovCMS content through an API-first platform.

Webfront is the developer-owned public website layer. Build the institution’s presentation, routes and interactions with Next.js while GovCMS provides managed content behind it.
An API-first application layer connects structured content, publishing rules and integrations, keeping business logic separate from presentation.
Relational records describe content and permissions. Object storage holds media and documents, with metadata linking assets to their context.
Plan the integration first
API access is part of the core platform. Authentication, endpoint availability, rate limits, versioning and integration scope are confirmed against the deployment’s supported API contract.
Webfront supports the full development path: local development, institution review in a managed Preview environment and Production deployment to the institution’s selected supported cloud environment. Preview lives with GovCMS; Production lives with the institution.
The public developer docs describe the published-content read API. Private API access, production endpoints and deployment details must be confirmed with GovCMS before planning an integration.
Enterprise adds custom integration support. Bespoke development and specialised integration implementation are separate services.
